As a safer, more capacious replacement of the old Pensacola Bay Bridge, the new bridge is being constructed with over 4,000 tons of American-made steel and features 70 roadway plate girders and 2 pedestrian-tied arches with plate girder approaches. The new bridge also features 468,000 sq ft of metalizing along with a sophisticated 3-coating paint system—including a clear coat.
